If you are visiting this 'Start' page, you will have received an email with your new friendsofgressenhall.org email address and an initial password.
The information on this page will take you through first sign in and making the finishing touches to your new account.
Your first sign in is best done on a computer or tablet rather than a phone. Google Workspace also works at its best when Google's Chrome web browser is used.
The process is explained in detail below, or you can opt for the short version:
In Chrome, click your Avatar at the top right of the Window next to the address bar.
At the bottom of "Other profiles" click "+ Add".
Sign in with your friendsofgressenhall.org email address & password.
Click through the popups: 'Next' then 'Sync, 'Yes, I'm in' .
Click the home icon in the address bar ⌂ to load the Committee webpage.
On the Committee webpage, see Help > Getting Started
Ideally, use Google Chrome. If you don't currently use Chrome as your web browser, consider installing it just for Friends of Gressenhall work as this will help to keep charity and personal information separate.
Android devices have Chrome installed by default.
Google's support page on installing Chrome.
Google Workspace is a collection of cloud computing, productivity and collaboration tools. It includes business versions of Google's Gmail, Calendar, Meet, Chat, Drive, Docs, Sheets and more
If you are already using Chrome you will be signed in with a personal Google Identity.
Our Google Workspace is configured to use profiles. Profiles is a feature of Chrome that allows you to keep different Google identities separate, with each identity saving information such as bookmarks, history, stored passwords and open tabs separately.
Each profile will use a separate Window and you can have several profile windows active at the same time.
To create a new profile for your Friends of Gressenhall identity, click your avatar, which is at the top right of your Chrome window, in line with the address bar.
At the bottom, click on the '+ Add'
You should see a popup "Set up your new Chrome profile". Click the 'Sign in' button, which will bring up the standard Google sign-in dialogue:
You will be prompted to choose a new password which must be a minumum of 8 characters long.
You should see a 'Welcome to your new profile' message with some information about profiles. There is more on Google's Profile information page.
Click 'Next'
You will then be prompted to turn on Sync. Account synchronisation is recommended. It means that wherever you sign in to your ID, you will have the same bookmarks, tabs and history etc.
Click 'Yes, I'm in'
Now that you are signed in to your new account, you can click on the Home symbol at the left of the address bar which will load the Committee's private website.
You should also be able to see 'Friends' Standard Bookmarks' in the bookmarks bar.
There are other dialogues that you may see as you sign-on. For example if you were to click the lower avatar (see the screenshot), there is no Profile option.
However if you select 'Add account' and enter your new logon details, becaue the system is configured to use Profiles, the system should advise that "Your organization requires a profile", before creating one.
A disadvantage of this route is that there is no prompt to turn on sync, however if you select the upper avatar, there will be a warning that 'Sync is off'. Click the button to turn it on.
You can use a browser other than Chrome, however, the Profile information does not apply and you won't be able to see the 'Friends' Standard Bookmarks'.
